Overview
![]() |
| July started hot and humid, before turning very active with several waves of heavy rain producing severe showers and thunderstorms during the 4th of July weekend. In fact, there were four separate rounds of severe storms across the area from the evening of the 2th through the evening of the 4th. The weather then turned dry until another period of intense severe thunderstorms moved across northeastern IL and northwestern IN on the 27th. This period of severe storms resulted in some instances of flash flooding, extensive wind damage, large hail and 7 tornadoes across northeastern IL and northwestern IN. The other notable aspect during the month was the Canadian wildfire smoke that impacted a good portion of the area, particularly on the 16th, resulting in very poor air quality and visibilities. |
