After an abnormally quiet May with regard to severe weather, June roared in with several severe weather and flash flooding episodes—some of which were quite significant. The graphic below recaps some of the bigger events, including the softball size hail in Minooka that fell on June 10th and the June 22nd tornadoes.

NWS Chicago ended up issuing a total of 101 Severe, Tornado, and Flash Flood Warnings combined last month, tied for the 2nd most for any June in at least 30 years. Of those 101 warnings, 17 were Tornado Warnings, also the 2nd most the office has issued in any June in the past 30 years. The most impressive statistic is that 25 Flash Flood Warnings were issued in June, the most on record ever issued by this office in a single month! That is no surprise given the amount of flooding parts of the area dealt with. Overall, June 2015 was one to remember.
