Coastal Storm Impacts Northeast; Heavy Rain Coming to the Southwest

A well-developed coastal storm will move slowly just off the Northeast coast today bringing gusty winds, flooding and high surf near the coast. Interior portions of New England will see a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. How-to use the Climate Web Page Interactively

 

Remember, the climate data you are retrieving from the NWS on this website is preliminary unofficial data.  For official data go here: 

https://www.noaa.gov/climate and https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/ the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).

Click on the climate web page link located here: https://w2.weather.gov/climate/index.php?wfo=phi for the interactive climate page.

This "How-to" section only refers to using the Observed Weather tab and the NOWData tab. Other tabs are mostly links to more climate web pages.

For all these interactive options please experiment with your choices. You won't break anything! It will help you learn how to use it.

 

For the Observed Weather tab there are 4 choices: 1. Product, 2. Location, 3. Timeframe, and 4. View

1. The Product are chosen by radio button so choose your desired product

2. Locations are chosen by menu box and the cities change per the product you chose

3. Timeframe defaults to Most Recent but Archived Data is available by clicking the radio button.

    The timeframe months, days, and years of the Archived Data will vary depending on the Product you chose.

4. View your results by clicking the Go button

 

For the NOWData tab there are 4 choices: 1. Location, 2. Product, 3. Options, and 4. View

1. Locations are chosen by menu box or by map by clicking View map. Viewing the map allows more stations to view.

2. The Product are chosen by radio button so choose your desired product. Each Product changes the times and variables in 3. Options, the next choice.

3. Options will change as Products are chosen. Chose your Date, Ranges, Summary, Criteria, PeriodStart date and End date and the Variable you            need.  The format you will enter the information is self explanatory.

4. View your results by clicking the Go button

This resource is used to get past data for text products for specific locations and times.

The NWS is not responsible for posting this information on this website. Please contact ISU for more detail.

Basically the choices are Select Issuing Center (i.e. forecast area), UTC date (with range option), and How to view and Sort order.

Once you click Giveme you will see a list of text products for the specific date and location you chose.

FAQs for Current Conditions on website showing N/A for Extended Forecast:

There are two types of weather stations: AWOS (FAA-maintained) and ASOS (NWS-maintained).

These weather stations provide observation information at that location normally an airport.

If you see and N/A please report it to wfophi.webmaster@noaa.gov.  Provide the link from the webpage.

However, the issue may be due to communications, construction area, or maintenance.

Please be patient as we will contact the appropriate personnel to repair the problem.
