Snow and Ice Continue in the Northeast; Rain and Mountain Snow in the West

Significant winter impacts shift into the Northeast on Sunday. Heavy snow up to 2 feet will be possible across interior Northeastern areas. Southern New England may see ice accumulations up to a quarter of an inch. Strong gusty winds and bitter cold will follow the cold front passage. The NWS is collecting comments on a proposed consolidation (i.e., reduce the number) and reformatting (i.e., simplified product text) of flood-based Watches, Warnings and Advisories (WWA) for River Flood, Areal Flood, Coastal Flood, and Lakeshore Flood products through September 7, 2018. Based on feedback received, NWS may implement some or all of the proposals in early 2020.
