Heavy Rainfall and Flooding Concerns in the Southwest; Coastal Low to Impact the East Coast

Deep tropical moisture will lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms capable of producing flash flooding through early next week over the Southwest and Four Corners. A coastal storm is expected to develop off the southeast U.S. coast tonight and is expected to strengthen and bring flooding, dangerous rip currents, gusty winds and heavy rain up much of the East Coast through early next week. Deep moisture, along with some remnant moisture from TS Priscilla, has arrived in northern and central Arizona today and will remain through Saturday night. Areas of steady rain and embedded thunderstorms are likely at times, with heavy rain and flash flooding a possibility.
There is an increasing risk of flash flooding over much of northern and central Arizona through Saturday. This includes a moderate risk of excessive rainfall for portions of central and northern Arizona from 5 AM Friday to 5 AM Saturday. Moderate risks are rare for our area, and represent a significant threat.
