A Flood Watch is in effect for the Sacramento Mountains near Ruisoso where wildfire burn scars are located. These burned areas are highly vulnerable to flash flooding. Stay tuned to reliable news sources and weather.gov/abq for possible Flash Flood Warnings prompting you to take action!
Monsoon moisture remains in place with slow storm motions favoring locally heavy rainfall over southwestern and south central NM. Flash flooding will be possible in low-lying and poorly drained areas. There is a moderate to high risk of burn scar flash flooding as well.
The thunderstorm threat matrix indicates the probability of thunderstorms over wildfire burn areas.
Hotter and drier weather is forecast for the Fourth of July holiday.
Monsoon moisture will keep rain chances in the forecast today and Thursday, but drier and hotter weather will arrive for the Fourth of July.
