Numerous rain showers and thunderstorms will continue today along and east of the central mountain chain with scattered-to-isolated activity farther west to the continental divide and in the Four Corners area. Storm coverage will decrease this evening, while precip begins to diminish from west to east across the state.
After a break in thunderstorm activity on Wednesday, chances of rain and storms increase Thursday and Friday. Storms will be confined more to higher terrain areas on Thursday. Coverage increases over eastern New Mexico on Friday with a few strong storms with heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds and small hail.
Numerous showers and thunderstorms are forecast along and east of the central mountain chain today, with scattered to isolated activity farther west. Coverage will decrease this evening as precip gradually ends from the west. A few showers may linger after midnight on the eastern plains.
After high temperatures around 4-17 F below 1991-2020 averages today, readings will warm during mid to late week. Shower and thunderstorm chances will continue mainly east of the central mountain chain during the latter half of the week. Meanwhile, locally critical fire weather conditions will develop in the west central mountains on Thursday.
