Isolated severe storms are possible across eastern to southeastern NM this afternoon and evening. The main threats from any strong to severe storms will be large hail and damaging wind gusts. Frequent lightning may also accompany storms. Localized heavy rainfall may also cause flash flooding.
Daily rounds of shower and thunderstorm activity is expected across eastern NM through the end of the week. Localized heavy rain is possible. Areas that receive multiple rounds of rainfall will be susceptible to flooding, especially areas within and downstream of burn scars.
There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over eastern areas Wednesday from mid afternoon through mid evening. Cloud-to-ground lightning, large hail, and damaging wind will be the main threats with a low risk of a tornado as well.
Additional strong to severe storms are possible in eastern NM Thursday afternoon and evening. Large hail and damaging winds continue to be the main threats with any stronger storms.
Daily rounds of shower and thunderstorm activity is expected for eastern NM, with better chances for western NM arriving this weekend. Temperatures will trend up for most areas late in the week.
Slight to moderate chances of afternoon showers and thunderstorms across the burn scars through the rest of the week. Antecedent wet conditions may increase the threat of burn scar flash flooding.
