Strong west winds over east central New Mexico today will create a strong headwind on west bound I-40, a strong tailwind on east bound I-40, and a strong crosswind for drivers on north-to-south roads like Highway 285, Highway 84, and Route 3. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the central highlands from 10 AM to 5 PM, where gusts up to 55 mph may be observed. A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 AM to 5 PM for Quay, Curry, and northern Roosevelt Counties.
There will be a risk of rapid fire spread over far east central areas from late this morning through the afternoon.
Confidence is increasing for accumulating rain and snow Wednesday night through Thursday night, and from the northern mountains and northeast into Friday.
