Hurricane Erin may bring isolated flash and urban flooding, landslides or mudslides, and possible tropical storm conditions to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands this weekend. A Flood Watch is in effect tomorrow from 11 AM to 7 PM MDT for the Ruidoso area burn scars. Heavy rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches over the scars may create life threatening flash flooding downstream along the Rio Ruidoso.

Southern, central, and eastern areas will have a marginal risk of excessive rainfall that could produce flash flooding both Sunday and Monday.

The best chance for locally heavy rainfall will be across the southern mountains tomorrow and Monday. Locally heavy rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour may create flash flooding concerns, especially over recent burn scars.

A broad high pressure system will build over the Four Corners region during the coming week causing minor to moderate Heat Risk for lower elevation areas west of the central mountain chain.
