Coastal Threats for the East and Gulf; Record Warmth for the Central U.S.

Persistent onshore flow across the Southeast and portions of the mid-Atlantic will keep the risk of rip currents through the weekend. Rainfall could be locally heavy across Florida, especially along the eastern shoreline. Meanwhile, record warmth for portions of the Plains and Midwest with elevated fire concerns. Overview

A widespread severe weather outbreak occurred during the afternoon and evening of the 26th of July. Many locations across Central Pennsylvania had trees knocked down by thunderstorm wind gusts. The main severe signatures that day were bow echoes with high velocities. Little rotation was seen in most of these storms. As a result, no tornadoes occurred.
