Strong Storm System Brings Heavy Mountain Snow to the Sierra Nevada and Critical Fire Weather Conditions to the Plains

A Pacific storm system will continue to bring low elevation rain and mountain snow to much of the West through Wednesday, with heavy mountain snow expected in the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada. Overview

October 2007 will go down as the warmest October on record at both Williamsport and Harrisburg. The average temperature at Williamsport for the month was 59.4 degrees, which was 8.1°F above normal, and was 0.6°F above the previous record of 58.8 degrees set back in 1971. The average temperature at Harrisburg for the month was 62.0 degrees, which was 7.5°F above normal, and was 0.5°F above the previous record of 61.5 degrees set back in 1984.
