Heat Wave Continues in the West; Critical Fire Weather Conditions in the High Plains

An anomalously early heat wave will continue to intensify and expand across the West and Southwest as the week progresses. Numerous daily and potentially monthly record highs are expected to be broken. An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued Wednesday-Sunday for locations below 4000 feet in the Grand Canyon and Yavapai County. Do not be caught off guard by June-like temperatures in March!
Much of the area will roast under a summer-like ridge, with temperatures reaching 20 to 30 degrees above normal from Tuesday onward. Take the appropriate precautions if you are planning on any outdoor activity through this week.
Daily and monthly high temperature records will be shattered this week.
