A tornado developed in the town of Hazelton, KS. The tornado then tracked northeast producing EF0 damage. Primary indicators were small snapped trees, one uprooted tree and an empty trailer flipped over.
A brief mesocyclone tornado in an open field for around 1 minute. Location estimated from spotter vantage point.
A cluster of thunderstorms produced a brief, weak tornado during the mid-afternoon hours of March 24, 2024, on the east side of Garden City, KS. The tornado produced low-end EF-1 damage primarily to residential homes and businesses.
Additional weather observers are needed across Kansas.
Today is the 25th anniversary of the October 16th, 1998 tornado that moved from eastern Trego County across western and northern Ellis County and hit the city of Yocemento.

A forward propagating MCS/bow echo moved from northwest into south central Kansas during the late afternoon and evening hours on 13 August. Widespread damaging winds occurred along the entire path of the bow echo. The greatest damage occurred in Ellis County, where winds of at least 90 mph occurred in localized areas.
Microbursts from thunderstorms in southwest Kansas caused damage to electrical lines, irrigation systems and structures south of the community of Woods, Kansas.
