Hot Temperatures Likely Through End of July

Stay Safe During the Heat

A Heat Advisory is in effect for areas off the Caprock today. High temperatures as high as 106 degrees are expected. The hot temperatures are likely to continue into the weekend, and additional heat advisories may be issued later in the week. Stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon and early evening.

Another hot day is in store for the Caprock regions with highs climbing into the upper 90s and lower triple digits. Very hot conditions are likely to continue through the end of July with record breaking heat possible by late week into early next week. A slight chance for showers and storms will exist Friday evening, primarily across the far southern Texas Panhandle.

1989: A hailstorm dropped up to golf ball size west of Lazbuddie late this evening wiping out a two-to-three mile stretch
of crops. Interestingly, little if any rainfall accompanied this severe storm.
