A Heat Advisory is in effect on Tuesday from 1 PM until 8 PM for the Rolling Plains and far southeast Texas Panhandle. Temperatures of 105-109° are likely. Limit time outdoors and stay hydrated.

Hot weather continues, with highs in the mid to upper 90s on the Caprock and into the low 100s off the Caprock. While a stray storm is possible across the far southeast Texas Panhandle Monday evening, most of the area will stay dry.

A pleasant night awaits with lows in the 60s for many on the Caprock with lower 70s elsewhere under mostly clear skies.

The heat rolls on this week and straight into the weekend with no sight of rain.

Local Weather History For August 17th...

2007 (17th-18th): Tropical Depression Erin, previously a tropical storm during landfall on the middle Texas coast early on
the 16th, brought large amounts of rain to areas off the Caprock from late on the 17th through the morning on the 18th.
Erin maintained a defined circulation well after making landfall, and even strengthened significantly over Oklahoma early
on the 19th. Although widespread on the Rolling Plains, the storm didnt bring rainfall to all of the South Plains as this
region fell under the west (dry) side of the depression. The largest rainfall total recorded in the region was measured at
the Texas Tech University West Texas Mesonet site near Aspermont at 6.10 inches. Most totals ranged between 2 and 4 inches
in the Rolling Plains. In addition
