High temperatures may set new records for the date at Lubbock and Childress both Friday Nov. 14 and Saturday Nov. 15.

Very warm temperatures will continue today with highs in the mid 80s to near 90 degrees. The warm and dry conditions will also result in elevated fire danger this afternoon.

Mild weather continues tonight with lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

Unseasonably warm weather continues through Saturday, with temperatures remaining nearly 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. Cooler weather arrives next week with rain showers possible by Wednesday.

2001: After a rare late-year tornado earlier this month north of Lubbock, an even more unusual tornado was observed this
day in western Lubbock County west of Reese Village. For six minutes, a storm chaser observed an F0 tornado over open
country that moved very little. What made this tornado so very unusual is that it developed at 9:23 in the morning!
