Heavy Great Lakes Snow through Friday; Watching Potential for Major Winter Storm Late Week into this Weekend

Heavy lake effect snow will continue in the Great Lakes into Wednesday before another storm brings a widespread general snow followed by another round of heavy lake effect snow. A wide-ranging winter storm will produce great swaths of heavy snow, sleet, and treacherous freezing rain from the southern Rockies/Plains and Mid-South starting Friday and shifting toward the East Coast through Sunday. Gusty northeast and east winds are producing hazardous marine conditions over the coastal waters adjacent to the Tampa Bay and southwest Florida. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect through 10 AM Wednesday morning for coastal waters from Tarpon Springs south.
Cold. Lows from the mid 30s across the Nature Coast, the lower 40s inland central and south, and mid 40s to 50s coastal central and south.
Mostly sunny. Not as cool. Highs from the upper 60s north to mid to upper 70 south.
