Thunderstorm chances will increase quickly this afternoon and evening, with storms lasting into the nighttime hours. The highest chances will be to the west of the I-27 corridor. Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, hail up to the size of quarters, and locally heavy rainfall will be the primary hazards with storms. Flash flooding will remain localized.
A cold front will move into the forecast area and stall late tonight, which will keep thunderstorm chances intact area-wide throughout the night.
Thunderstorm chances return Monday afternoon and through the late evening hours. Some storms may be severe, capable of producing damaging winds and hail. Torrential rainfall may lead to a risk for localized flash flooding.
Cooler temperatures are expected area-wide Monday, as a cold front will stall out across West Texas. Thunderstorm chances are forecast to return by the early afternoon hours, with an increase in coverage expected heading into the late afternoon and evening hours.
Thunderstorm chances and relatively cool temperatures continue each day from Monday through Wednesday with warmer and drier weather expected by the end of the week.
