Heavy Rain in the Southern Appalachians; Heat Continues in the West; Monitoring Tropical Storm Erin

Heavy to excessive rain falling over the southern Appalachians may bring areas of flooding into Wednesday. Hot temperatures are in place through Wednesday across parts of the western U.S. and New England. Tropical Storm Erin is forecast to become a Hurricane by late this week as it moves westward across the central Atlantic Ocean. Monitor forecasts for any Puerto Rico or U.S. East Coast impacts. After that, 3 or 4 tabs will open up below the map:

If there are Red Flag Warnings or Fire Weather Watches on the clicked area, the text for those will show up in the first tab. Otherwise this tab will not show up.
A tab with the Fire Weather Forecast Discussion and the forecast for the Fire Weather Zone clicked upon will be in the second tab.
A color coded Fire Weather Matrix will show up in the next tab. Some offices have created custom thresholds for the matrix. Otherwise, "default" parameters will be used. Note: This information covers the area on the map within the "green square".
The final tab has a 3 hourly point forecast matrix for the next 6 days. Note: This information covers the area on the map within the "green square".
