Severe Weather Threat Shifted to the Southern Plains and Mid-South; Critical Fire Weather in the Southern Plains

Multiple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms may produce very large hail, swaths of damaging wind, a few tornadoes and heavy rain across parts of Texas into the lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may develop in the afternoon to evening hours over central and/or northeast TX and drift into our area. A few storms may become strong to severe. Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) of severe weather for far northern Houston County (not the city). Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) of severe weather for areas elsewhere in the Brazos Valley/Piney Woods.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday afternoon/evening as a frontal boundary approaches from the north. A few storms may become strong to severe. Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible. Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) of Severe Weather for most of the area on Wednesday. Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) of Excessive Rainfall for most of the area on Wednesday.
Partly cloudy skies with hot and humid conditions. High temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s with heat indices in the 90s/100s. An isolated strong storm or two cannot be ruled out in northern areas in the afternoon/evening.
Mostly cloudy and humid with patchy fog possible. An isolated strong storm can’t be ruled out in the Piney Woods overnight.
Summer-like temperatures expected into midweek. Heat index values in the upper 90s to low 100s. A Moderate HeatRisk affects those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without cooling/hydration, and some health systems and industries.
Hot and humid through midweek with high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. Rain chances increase Wednesday through the end of the work week as a cold front approaches and eventually pushes through Southeast Texas. Cooler temperatures in the wake of the front over the weekend.
