Temperatures today will be 15 to 25 degrees above normal over northeastern NM. Highs will be near records from Raton and Las Vegas to Tucumcari and Clayton.
Winter weather will move through New Mexico this weekend with sharply colder temperatures, snow, strong winds, and bitter wind chills.
Near record high temperatures Friday fall sharply Sunday behind a Pacific cold front to well below average. A general warming trend takes hold early next week.
Winds ahead of a Pacific cold front will strengthen Saturday, with areas across western NM and the central highlands will seeing 25- 30mph winds with gusts up to 40mph. Winds upward of 45-50mph will be possible at higher elevations.
A potent Pacific cold front will bring a sharp drop in temperatures Sunday morning. High winds and bitter cold will produce very cold wind chills in the single digits, with a few pockets below zero across western NM.
