Periodo prolongado de alto peligro de incendio hasta la mitad de semana para el norte y centro de Nuevo Mexico.
Strong to severe storms may develop across far southeast New Mexico today along a backdoor front. Large hail and damaging wind gusts will be possible.
Widespread critical to locally extreme fire danger is expected Sunday afternoon in western and central NM. Wind gusts up to 55 mph will also create hazardous crosswinds for high profile vehicles and patchy blowing dust. Critical fire weather conditions are expected to continue for much of the area into the middle of the week.
An extended pattern for potential large fire growth starts Sunday and will last through midweek. Strong winds will combine with very low relative humidity leading to critical to extreme fire weather conditions across much of northern and central New Mexico. Rapid fire growth is likely in receptive fuels with any fire starts. Do your part to prevent wildfires and create #OneLessSpark.
Strong to potentially damaging winds may develop over the northern mountains Monday and Tuesday. The probabilities for wind gusts greater than 55 mph are very high already during this period. The latest forecast indicates wind gusts may exceed 65 mph, especially along the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
