Heavy Snow and Disruptive Ice in the Upper Midwest; Severe Thunderstorms in the Southern Plains

A late season winter storm will produce a combination of heavy snow and disruptive ice starting this evening in the Northern Plains and moving into the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes by tonight continuing through Thursday. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s under mostly cloudy skies. Expect southeast winds at 10-15 mph. Rain with ocassional storms will be possible near or after sunset, mainly north of I-10.
Isolated to scattered showers and storms will be possible throughout the day, with the best chances north of I-10. Highs mainly in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop ahead and along a cold front. Periods of heavy rain will be possible. There is a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) of Excessive Rainfall for all of Southeast Texas. Highest rain chances Saturday afternoon into overnight hours (early Sunday). Lingering showers/storms possible Sunday.
Expect daily rain and storm chances, with the highest probability of thunderstorms this weekend as a cold front moves through the region. After Sunday, expect near-seasonal temperatures for early April, with highs mainly in the 70s and lows in the 50s and 60s.
