Last Map Update: Sat, Nov 1, 2025 at 3:06:14 pm CDT

The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston has issued this Small Craft Advisory beginning at 7pm due to strong Northeast winds (15-25 knots with gusts to 30 knots) and high seas (4-7 feet) from High Island down to the Matagorda Ship Channel. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these conditions until the advisory expires this evening. Always check the latest marine forecast before heading out on the water.
A cold front will move across the region Saturday, keeping daytime high temperatures seasonal in the 70s area-wide. This frontal boundary will be the focus for some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon, mainly south of I-10. One or two storms could be strong to severe tomorrow.
A weather graphic from NWS Houston/Galveston showing a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for isolated strong storms on Saturday afternoon/early evening. The risk is concentrated generally near the Matagorda Bay area and offshore.
A sunny day is on tap for Sunday with daytime high temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
FIVE-DAY FORECAST: Warm-up begins after a mild cold front brings a quick chance of rain to the coast. The next five days across Southeast Texas will see a transition to warmer weather. Today (Saturday): A weak cold front pushes through this afternoon, bringing the week's highest chance of rain (up to 55%) as scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly along the immediate coast (Galveston Beaches & Matagorda Beaches). Highs will be in the low 70s for most areas. Sunday - Wednesday: Expect beautiful, sunny weather with zero chance of rain for most of the region. Temperatures will begin a gradual warming trend, with afternoon highs climbing from the low 70s on Sunday to the low 80s by Wednesday. Overnight lows will remain pleasant, in the upper 40s and low 50s.
Don't forget to "Fall Back"! Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 AM on Sunday, November 2nd. As you turn your non-automatically changing clocks back an hour before bed Saturday night, take a moment for an important safety check: change the batteries in your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and your NOAA Weather Radio. A simple change could save a life!
